Our Vision

Residents First wants to change the residential property industry to better reflect the role of residents.

For far too long, the industry has been biased towards Developers and Managing Agents, yet they largely ignore, and fail to respect the most important stakeholder in the industry:

THE RESIDENTS!

We are striving for a world where residents:

  • Understand the way their estate is managed and by whom.
  • Pay a fair rate for the services they receive.
  • Have an opportunity to influence the services delivered and the cost of those services.
  • Receive answers to their questions from a Managing Agent that cares.

There is already growing momentum in pushing back against Developers and Managing Agents. You can see that through the number of Facebook Groups that allow residents to come together and share horror stories about their situation.

Together with an increasing number of organisations like Residents First and individuals offering support, this change is inevitable. The question is, how can we help to achieve that outcome?

Our Services

Residents First intends to support this change in the industry through the following services:

REMEMBER: we are a not-for-profit, so we are not in existence to make money from residents. Any funds generated from providing services will be ploughed back into the business. We are different from other companies that are trying to make money for themselves. We are here to support residents. That means our costs will be low.

These are the services that we either provide now or hope to provide in the future:

We will make our team available to support residents in need, listening to them, reading legal documents and offering advice on the best ways forward to help residents achieve their objectives.

AI is a key tool that allows us to quickly understand the complexities of legal documents and the obligations of parties involved in a particular agreement.

Note: we are not legal experts, but we can read legal documents, we have experience of similar situations and we can apply common sense to make recommendations.

We will collect information about Managing Agents/Property Factors around the UK and the level of Service Charge being incurred by residents.

The aim is for this to become a useful source of information for residents when selecting service providers.

We will provide easy-to-use guides to help residents deal with the complexities of managing their sites and dealing with problematic Managing Agents/Property Factors.

We will provide online services to help residents manage their own sites. This will include:

  • AI-supported analysis of legal agreements, including digitising of scanned images of contracts.
  • Website design, build, hosting and support for Residents’ Associations, Management Companies and Managing Agents/Property Factors.
  • Provision of Management Company online administration services, simplifying the day-to-day running of your Management Company with simple-to-use online facilities. This includes the preparation of Service Charge budgets, the selection of service providers, the collection of monies from residents, the management of services on site, the preparation of accounts and other admin tasks.
